Republic of Srpska has followed the same path as the countries which have passed or that are in the process of economic transition, with the aim to set up an open and competitive economy with organised capital market. For implementation of this aim the necessary condition has been the privatisation of majority of state capital. At the same time, this has influenced necessary development of market infrastructure, i.e. institutions that would enable dealings with market transactions. Due to this reasons in the Republic of Srpska legal framework has been established as a basis for forming of market institutions, and among them also companies for management of privatisation investment funds. The research in this paper has been directed towards giving the answer to the questions: what are the reasons for establishing management companies and, in upcoming market changes, if they have significantly affected the development of the Republika Srpska economy, and if they have proven their existence.
